T'other half has a pc set up with the TV so he can switch it to computer mode and play videos though he is an IT guy and I have no idea how hard it would be to set it up.
The PC screen is used like a TV monitor.
I'm guessing you'd have to have the appropriate inputs/outputs on your TV.
Would ask him but he's knackered and fast asleep.
May be worth asking in Technology as I'm sure they will be able to help.

T'other half says...
If the TV has a VGA (PC) input then you can connect a PC directly to the TV and play whatever video files you want.
If you are trying to download movies from the internet, eg DivX files and you want to play them on a DVD player then you would need to convert DivX to a dvd format.
If you do a search for "DivX to dvd" on google you can find software there to help with that.

I use something very similar to the mediabox, and it is really easy to use. It is basically an external hard drive, but it connects directly to your TV.
I have mine connected to both my laptop and tv, and I download drectly to the exernal drive. When I want to watch something I have to unplug the USB port on my laptop, and then all of my files appear on my tv screen. I just use the remote control that cam with the hard drive to select what I want to watch.
I think it's a great gadget as I no longer have to burn anything to disc.
