Morning john sweetie , mwaaaah , how are you this rather rainy day ? Well , while I lived over in Australia I came across people who had either lived there or were moving there . I heard nothing but good about it , it's a lovely clean modern city , quite a few Brits over there in Perth . Work prospect and housing wise , it's much the same as Adelaide and housing gets cheaper the furthur out you get in the suburbs . Like any city there's work if you look and it's wise to secure a job before going over.

Hi mamma, I'm good thanks hope you are too.

Thanks for all that, we're looking at emigrating out there in the next few years. Mrs 4GS is a nurse and currently finishing off her degree in 'Occupational Health' she's an OHA at the moment, so finding work shouldn't be a problem for her. We're looking at either Perth or Adelaide but as neither of us have been we need information.
Wow , how exciting for you all , oh yes ..go for it john , it's a good life out there if you take time to settle in . As you say , your wife should have no problem securing a job in her field . Adelaide also has a lot of Brits although Australia as a whole is pretty multicultural throughout now. Bear in mind that Adelaide is within driving distance of the cities around and of Sydney and Canberra , whereas Perth is a huge distance from most other cities on the mainland. On the other hand flights are fairly reasonable .
There isn't a shortage of info around so you will have time to look through it all before making your final decision :-)

Oh and climate wise , Perth gets the extremes of highs and can also be cooler in it's " winter " . Adelaide can hit over 38 in the height of summer , nov-feb , but it does get chilly too and has a higher rainfall than Perth .
Hi John :o)

My sister emigrated to Perth over 4 years ago and has never looked back. Like your wife she is a nurse and didn't have any problems getting a job. They have had their own house built, just had a little baby boy and things have never looked better for them. I miss her like mad (and crave to see my nephew) that has been the only downside to it for them, all their family are over here.
I think if you have the oppourtunity then go for it :o)
hi John....

I used to live in Oz......came back years ago......my brother went back 3 years ago ...but to SA.....but if ya need any info maybe I can get you in touch with him?....re property...expenses etc.... :-))
Ive been to lots of places in the world and most places in Oz and hand on heart Freemantle in Perth is the only other place id ever live!
So relaxed, layed back lovely people, Book clubs, Juice bars Yoga glasses houses and streets are lovely aswell!! xx
lots of South African emigrants in Perth, displaying the sort of attitudes that are no longer permissible where they came from (expect shouts of ''Kaffir' at dark-skinned cricketers, for instance). No doubt this is highly attractive for some British emigrants too. It's hot and dry. with miles of beaches, and wine country not far away; but not huge and not a great cultural experience compared with much of Britain.
SA...for me is South Australia....ta jno....
