no oct, i dont, i wish there was a way of stopping them but science made it possible for them to do it in this instance.

Anyone that wants to choose a sex for selfish reasons shouldnt be allowed children
What about the people that want children for selfish reasons? How do you define their reasoning?

Would you diminish the human rights of all personal choices you disagree with?
Ivf is a godsend , for want of a better word , to people who have fertility problems.
I do wonder if theres more value placed on children conceived naturally than by ivf ?

After consideration i think theres a core of parents that because they can buy a baby that they dont value them as much.
This thought has always been in my mind regarding the mccann family.A personal opinion but a valid one i think.
I mean people that just want a girl or a boy because thats what they want other than oposed to parents that need to a boy or girl to help out another sibling
I know what you meant 4get, I saw it no other way. My point really was how can we really determine and define what we would allow in terms of other peoples choices and preferences?

It detracts from the original Q of course, which I think we all agree is abhorrent and odious, but could we really accept that genetic engineering of human embryo is the way society is progressing, yet limit the choices that such advancement can bring. Could it only be a matter of time before having a shopping list of offspring requirement criteria (blue eyes, dark hair, a slight tan, big hands etc) becomes a human right?

Im sorry, is this too philosophical for chatterbank?

legend,
i think that there is a small minority of parents who dont value their children. IVF or natural, its makes no difference.

these parents are very happy after 9 years of trying http://www.thesun.co.uk/sol/homepage/woman/art icle1188023.ece
These 2 should not be allowed to be parents full stop!
This story sickened me to the core this morning. I am very lucky to have a healthy 11 year old son from my first marriage. I suffered a miscarriage and an ectopic pregnancy after having him. My husband and I have been trying for almost 2 years for a baby and all we have to show for it is another miscarriage last November. These so called people should be stopped from having any other IVF attempts. They don't deserve children at all. Those poor babies. I hope someone gives them the good life they deserve.
