Does your accent hamper you?

Isnt it strange that people judge them by there accents, for example would you trust a scouser, in my eyes are one of the salts of the north! .When you hear the Cornish or the Somerset accent you think of mangle wurzels!!!

i know it is a bit late but i am a branch secretary of a big trade union and i am from the north west of england and i do pretty well in the job i do, I think as long as you are genuine it does not matter what you accent is like.
