Garage remote control interferring with neighbours canopy

We have just recently fitted a new garage door with a remote control. Our next door neighbour has just complained that her electronic sun canopy is being opened and closed when we open or close our garage by remote.
What can we do about this please, is this possible and does she have any right to claim that we are using her frequency. Many thanks

This used to happen to our neighbours' gates when we opened our (newly mounted) remote control gates, they couldn't understand how they'd get home to gates already open... It's a frequency thing and you can change the frequency on the remote control.

Thanks for the speedy reply butterflies. Any idea how that is done? Got a useless other half and a builder thats not answering my calls. I cannot even find a name on the garage door or remote so I don't know where to begin.

you'll have to get hold of the builder as something needs changing in both the receiver in the garage, and in the remote handset. that's really funny - wonder what else you're having an impact on?

I've got no idea what the answer is but I can imagine it being quite amusing, imagine the fun yu could have!

Unless they ate able to close your garage door when you are half in / half out of the garage :-(

Did you have an Instruction book? It probably deals with the problem in that if you look carefully.

Thanks for the responses. I'll have to persevere with the builder and try to get the make or instruction/fitting manual. He is being very evasive and all I know is he sub contracted someone for the job.
My neighbour meanwhile has turned quite nasty about the whole thing, demanding that I change my frequency immediately as she had hers first! Oh well, she'll have to wait until I can find out what to do next. Thanks everyone

If the instructions don't make any sense and that sometimes you need to have a degree in putting things together, have a look to see if there is a helpline phone number or website that will help you as I bet this is a common thing....

Sorry for taking so long. We were able to take the back off our hand remote control and just ajust it like that.
These problems are more frequent than what people think. There are people who listen in to whole telephone conversations on a radio when say a neighbour is using a cordless phone...
