Can we sue the government for not doing their job ?

Surely one of the most important things ANY government (in any country) has to do is to protect its citizens.
Surely we now have a situation where this Labour governement (and the last Tory one is not totally free from blame either) have now put the population of this country at risk by its lack of control.
Politicians have been happy to line their pockets by having new kitchens fitted at our expense, while they have sat back and allowed many things to happen that put us at danger.
VERY slack immigration controls have allowed the scum of the earth to come to our country and we now have no idea who is here, if they are criminls, rapists, terrorist or whatever.
We have allowed Muslim's to stand on our street corners and preach hate and terror, while "English" people have to be careful what we say unless we upset these ethnic groups.
We have gangs pushing drugs openly on the street, and shooting and stabbing each other (and anyone else who gets in the way).
We have gangs of feral moronic kids walking the street drunk or drugged (or both) willing to stab or fight with anyone they take a dislike to.
Parts of some city centre's are almost becoming no-go areas, and we have "white flight" where those that can afford it are getting out before one of their children is stabbed or shot.
ALL of this could be managed and controlled is we had a governement that could be bothered, but they cant, they are happy to sit back and let it happen.
Surely it is time to get them in the dock and charge them with lack of control and putting their own population in danger.

Yes, I am sure the 15 year old girl stabbed to death in a lift yesterday thinks it is hilarious.
And the blind man who was attacked by muggers yesterday also thinks it is hilarous

and the woman who campaigned against gun and knife crime who was stabbed yesterday also thinks it is hilarious

I suspect such data would be presented in your "trial" as part of the defence.
How would you convince the court that you had a case and weren't the victim of media hysteria I wonder?

Easy: technology. More communication, plus more reporting of crime equals more people hearing about more crime. Even though if you look at that stats crime has actually gone down.
I agree that New Labour has arguably failed to protect us in that they've failed to uphold some of our constitutional rights by undermining one of the key principles of rule of law (that nobody should be made to suffer unless found to be in direct breach of the law). But that's not the same thing as what you mean.

Beanebabe spot on if you ask me but its more like your opinion doesnt count for sh1t unless your in an ethnic minority
Gromit how many laws have been passed to protect the white majority in the uk from discrimination by the minority in you lifetime?
Jake 90% of statistics are made up... or was that 85% noo noo 99%
the governments statistics are all frigged to make them look good. Those statistics are probably from arrests related to knife crime which has gone down because the fuzz is to busy arresting Joe public for speeding and spending inordinate amounts of money taking down a few internet piracy sites. The force itself admits its not serving the people anymore as its too target driven.

The police have their hands tied. They have to follow orders and are bogged down by paperwork, etc. It IS time this government stopped being so unrealistic, and started tackling crime and safety issues, instead of devising stupid laws which allow someone to be fined for over-filling their dustbin or what have you.

It's actually very common for a govt. department to commission a private organisation to do the polling or research for them. The statistics themselves are actually pretty reliable, the way the government tends to try and 'fuzz' them is by playing down negative ones. So the statistics given are actually pretty reliable.
Plus you have to remember that government statistics are subject to scrutiny at all levels: independent organisations, think-tanks and interest groups all review them or do their own research and would cry foul.
Seriously, we don't live in Putin's Russia. Granted, the government's not entirely honest (as no government ever is), but it won't just make up statistics.
