laptop wont turn on

hi my laptop wont turn on its only 7 mths old its an acer aspire 5710.it was working fine yesterday,but just went to switch it on and nothing happens,it appears to be completely dead,no battery life,nothing.does anyone have any idea what the trouble may be please ?,or even if this is a fairly common problem even.many thanks.

Otherwise, it may be as simple as the power supply being shot or more complex. In the unlikely event of you knowing someone with a compatible mains lead, see if you can borrow it to rule out that as the problem (or possibly find out that it is the problem).
If not, try taking it back to the place of purchase and getting them to check. Be firm - in my experience most retail warranties are rubbish and the store will try their best not to do anything.

This may worked with a little technique we happened to discover where I work.
If the laptop is plugged in and switched on:-
Switch off the power to the laptop.
Remove power cable connector from laptop socket.
Close laptop lid, turn upside down and remove battery.
Put laptop right way up and open lid up again
Press and hold the the power button.
Close laptop lid, turn upside down and put the battery back in.
Plug in power lead, switch on mains power to laptop.
Open laptop lid and press and hold the power button.
