how to avoid a hangover
in my experience, drinking straight spirits all night prevents a hangover.
is this true for everyone else?
is there any particular reason for this? someone told me that it was the fizzy drinks dehydrating you that lead to a hangover...

As I've said before, we've always got plenty of sachets of Resolve (a citrus drink) in the cupboard, which when diluted with a glass of water, works wonders for us.
scientists have yet to discover the cause of a hangover and till today it's still poorly understood. THis is because they have been more concerned about the long term effects of alchohol and doing a research such as this would raise many moral issues.
If we would understand how a hangover work, we would know what to do to avoid one. But if we manage to do that then there will be nothing to stop us from drinking all we want which is ultimately BAD. Drugs sold over the counter today aren't really proven to work but they are available. I also heard that pharmaceutical companies have recently released a new drug once used by the KGB to reduce the effects of a hangover. It's used for agents when they had to drink to a particular situation without having to suffer the after effects and could still carry out their mission successfully.
The drug name I believe was RU-21... hahaha weird.
Basicly there are 2 types of alchohol (cant remember which 2 types) and 1 produces a toxic substance (that gives you a hangover) when it goes through your liver. And the other one type of alchohol doesn't.
Your liver will go through the the second alchohol first, which means you get your hangover after the party :)... the hangover alchohol is mainly in beer and wine etc...
The alchohol that doesnt give you hangovers is mainly straight spirits, (the clearer the better) so as youve found straight spirits shouldn't give you a bad hangover.
Hope this helped
