On Coronation Street, Fred Elliot often orders a ' whisky and threp '. Does anyone know what this means? I said....does anyone know what this means?

For more on marking an answer as the "Best Answer", please visit our FAQ.Whisky and threat is what the lovely Fred orders. It does refer to whisky and water, but 'threat' means to oinly show the water to the whisky - in other words 'threaten' to drown it!
My late father was a whisky drinker and always said the only thing to put into a glass of whisky was another one! Anything else was an insult to the whisky!
