Fridge freezer not working
4 Answers
I've just bought a second hand fridge freezer which was working fine when I went to view it, now that I've got it home it doesn't seem to be getting very cold, I've let it sit for 3 days to settle before turning it on but it's not working properly. The fridge if anything is actually warm and the freezer at best is as cold as the fridge bit should be. I'm not sure of the model number (it's a Hotpoint and is either a RF61 or a RF21). The light comes on in the fridge so it's definitely getting power but short of buying another one I don't know how to get it sorted - any tips?

It is cheaper in the long run to buy new as you will probably have to pay the Council to take it away. It cost me 13 to have a small fridge taken away. You could get an engineer to look at it but you may be throwing good nmoney after bad. I think it might be best to cut your losses.
Have you checked whether the door to the fridge has dropped which means that the catch is not properly engaging , so that the light is not being turned off when the fridge door is closed. This happened on our Hotpoint fridge/freezer and after a while the heat from the light which was permanently on caused the temperature to rise. After we'd called out the engineer and he had adjusted the door hanging, it was fine. Try taking the bulb out of the fridge light to see whether this could be the result of the problem.
