i have made a booking with ryan air (2ad 3ch) I only booked 2 cases for boarding but my friend can't make the flight - can i still use her luggage allowance-she hasn't cancelled her flight ! ?? Thanx

Airlines will not normally allow people to "share" luggage allowance.

The Ryanair web site says

"Checked baggage in excess of the checked baggage allowance per passenger will be charged a fee per kilo!

Note that even couples cannot share luggage allowance.

Suppose the luggage allowance was 20Kg per person.

If a couple were flying they could not have two cases, one of 30Kg and one of 10Kg. The person with the 30Kg bag would be charged for the extra 10Kg, even though their partners was 10Kg under.

Yep non transferable im afraid tho you can pay excess in advoance usually online.cheaper than at airport.

lol, joggerjayne-i'm only taking one case as i t is between 4 of us so i'm defo not a "heavy packer"-just thought because we had to pay �18 per case i could have took 2 cases like we originally booked for - I've tried ringing Ryanair and the no doesn't work ????????????

Even tho your friend won't be using her booking, she will still be listed in the computer for that flight until that booking is cancelled or changed.
Therefore you cannot use her baggage allowance because she will not be checked in.
Sorry.
As for 'joggerjanes' secret method of never paying for any exess, it's quite simple, don't have any in the first place.
She would get a rude shock in Oz.
