No hot water - reduction in rent ?
5 Answers
Hi
I have recently moved into a property - the boiler has been dodgy since I moved in, and then a week ago it totally broke down. The letting agents sent a plumber who said it was uneconomical to repair, and quoted the landlord for a new boiler. They sent a second plumber who confirmed the same thing.
Anyway - looks like I will be without hot water for another week at least. Can I ask for a reduction on my rent because of this ?
Thanks in advance.

Hi, contact env health at your local council, tell them the propert is not fit and ask for an inspection. The council can send an improvement notice to your landlord giving him a specified time to do the works, if he does not then the council can get the works done in default and claim the costs from him. Please pay your rent, unfair as it is the landlord can gain possession if you with hold the rent.
