Sorry if I have offended anyone but I was just answering the question in the context in which it was asked .
Well known around Lower Morden that Meo was a snorter .
Mind you this was back int he 80's when we lived in South London .
As for Jimmy White ..nice guy ..I've met him and his dad (deceased)....they used to come into the pub where I worked .
Like all these sarf London boys you take them as you find them .Always perfect gentlemen to me, a mere cook in a pub !!
In fact I shall be in sarf London on Tuesday for the funeral of a very old friend of mine and I am looking forward to a few drinks in the Beverley in Lower Morden afterwards in her honour and I daresay there will be a few well known faces from the area there :))
do you remember big bill Werbeniuk, when he ripped his trousers on tv, stretching over the table. think it was against taylor? lol

North of the water myself, shaney but when I travel done always have me ol' pie and mash in Bermondsey (Tower Bridge Rd, at Manzes)

Two pie, Two Mash plenty of liquor and some chilli vinegar.

Poor old Bill.

I think he once farted on TV as well didn't he?
big bill is no longer with us he went to the snooker table in the sky
Lol....we always used to go to Harringtons ..off Tooting Broadway .In spite of being a Norfolk dumpling the 20 odd years I spent in London were the some of the happiest days of my life.Met lots of lovely people who have remained true friends. In fact since moving back to Norfolk ,nice as it is ,I still hanker after the London life ,but as I am an old Biddy now ,it's not too bad here and the lure of sea and my family here make it home .
shaney ask about meo :)
God knows what happened to him Bob ..last time I saw him ,several years ago now ,he was in and out the betting shop looking as if he was in dire need of a shave and a clean shirt .Shame really as he was a good player .
I think that fame and fortune must be a hard thing to handle .
I like the old snooker and remember well that great Steve Davis ,Dennis Taylor final but I rarely watch it these days .It's getting like football which is all penalties and penalty shoot outs .Just robots and prima donnas playing for money. There's no sport or excitement in it anymore :)
