Hi! Best to seek advice from animal welfare organisations in your area - eg rspca, blue cross, pdsa, local vets, your local council's Animal Welfare staff. Someone should be able to give you good advice. You should get a good feed back from these people regarding recommendations for genuine dog/house sitters etc or licensed kennels/ home boarders. They will be able to advise you on the best option to keep your pet safe and happy for the duration of your absence.

This site has a list of petsitters, but you have to pay to get the information.
There is a great company called barking mad. They have a website and they provide dog sitting. I truly recommend them.

This is a franchise company that operates pet sitting franchises in many areas.

nah Barking Mad is no good either as it's a home from home service. I need someone who will dogsit in my home
Why don't you check out your local pet shops. They might have something advertised in the window? That's where I found my dog walker from (whilst I'm at work) and she also does sitting do so I'm sure lots of people will do it. Good luck.
