Weird Spider
4 Answers
I saw a really strange spider today. It's body was very small and it had long spindly legs. But the really weird thing was, when I poked it, it went into a straight line and propelled itself across the floor at quit a speed. I've never seen or heard anything like it before. It then simply changed from a linear shape to a normal spider shape, popping up it's legs and scuttling around as normal. It looked a little like a "harvester" spider, those ones with a tiny little rounded body and crazy long thin legs. Does anyone know what it was?

Oh dear yes - I have fear of spiders but could never kill one - its the usual glass tumbler over them and safely deposited outside. My job! as my kids (big kids!!!) are also a bit fearful of them - especially when the spiders leg it away in their rooms and can't be located!!!We used to get huge spiders in the house but haven't
seen any of those for quite some time.
Sounds like it could be a harvester - they are the strangest of things. Sometimes they are so slow and other times they can move quite swiftly!!! We seem to have a lot of them at the mo.
Spiders if threatened will also play dead - curl up and wait till all is clear!!!
We have great grandson of Boris in our garage! Quite a magnificent specimen - but he keeps himself to himself and will stay low until I am out of the way, apart from the odd occasion - then if we meet - he and I both scuttle away in opposite directions!!!! :o)
