Found out last week that there is a homeless lad living in the garden of empty house next door. The tenant is being evicted but hasnt slept there for a few weeks as she got raided and they found she had wired out her electicity meter

Mr CRX spoke to him the other eve and last night and now i cant help thinking about it.

The lad is a user, which i would normally be up in arms about, but is on the methadone program and trying to get clean he says. He cant get housing or any help as that is the way our government treats all single homeless men.

Mr CRX has given him water as the guy has no access to anything. he has half a tent but is now sleeping on and old sofa with an old fence panel over him for shelter.

Hes not asked us for anything, he chatted to Mr CRX and was in tears throughout. He was very grateful for a ciggie and someone to talk to.

Now i cant stop thinking about him being out there when we are warm and cosy in our home just feet from him.

I know that we would be making a rod for our own backs if we try and help in any way, like giving him an old sleeping bag or some old jumpers or warm food, plus i would still not have him near the house or children just in case, but am i being too soft?

34 years, you don't know the rest of the story.

Rev borrowed 40K over a few credit cards and is refusing - not just 'can't' and coming to an agreement like bankruptcy or the likes - just plain old refusing to pay back the money. He has his mother send back any letters from creditors citing 'left the Country' on them.

That's why MrBountry and I find his comments earlier in this thread hypocritical to say the least.

I must say bounty has a point to a degree.Things have gotten so bad just now because of folk in britain lying about their income to get a mortgage for a house that they cant adfford to pay.
By people living on credit cards and paying the minimum payment of a fiver a month.
Add to that the ambulance chasing claims direct attitude many have adopted and you see how things have spiralled out of control.
In some circles its considered cool not to pay your debts and just run up large credit bills.
What people neeed to realise is that selfish people like that have caused the credit crunch .And it will get worse thru this year.Less money to spend on holidays tooo because of a weak pound because of banks lending to everyone and their dog regardlesss of their ability to repay.

So in essence mr bounty is being pretty factual.

That said im gonna return to being nice because people invariably dont like the truth and when confronted with it they usually get grumpy and tantrums abound.

Anyway make the guy a nice sanny and give him a big bottle of pop and a bag of crisps.
Because if you want to you can.

DID THAT HELP ?
Lol

So, does that mean paying National Insurance for 23 years means you dont need to pay anymore?

Hmmmm....so why is it that NI still has to be paid until retirement?

Wise up!

Just because he's paid NI for 23 years, doesnt mean he can just stop whenever he wants.
Some times it only takes the smallest of gestures Red in a world that dismisses those in trouble or have made mistakes that can make all the difference.
As you said we would all be a lot worse off if not for the kindness of others from time to time.

i do not want a fight about paying taxes and immigrants on here.

please folks.
My apologies Red.

And yes, Dr L, that did help! :)
Just read the bit about the credit card debt.
Well if someone enters into an agreement and then renages on it for no reason other than they dont want to pay it back theyre no more than a common thief. As theyve had the money under false pretences.

That said theres an abundance of them pushing up the cost of credit now.
Thank you Dr L! :D
leggy stop
(So, does that mean paying National Insurance for 23 years means you dont need to pay anymore? )

thank you for that IAP, Im glad that you had help from people when you really needed it.
I think we are sensible enough to be very wary of him and we shall be for the sake of our children more than anything as they come first.
I just hope that we can help him, he may refuse it but we will see.
I doubt he will be there long as the council will clear the garden and shed as soon as they have eviction papers signed.

I did consider taking on a green name as i thought this post might be shot down in flames but i thank you all for being honest and I can see that im not being daft, many others would do the same if similar circumstances.
Sorry i was trying to be nice but i did have to be honest.
Make the guy a wee hamper up of stuff you have in the cupboards but arent using or wouldnt miss.
Then technically its not even cost you anything.
Add to that any clothes or blankets that you no longer want or use and youre helping him and its costing nothing.
that should keep everyone happy.

There nice to be nice isnt it ?

theres a young couple with baby in the house the other side. Theyve just moved in, just before the house was raided etc and are new to the area, i dont think they are pleased about their purchase so it may not be wise to ask them what they think.
They know hes there though as they hear him snoring at night.
at least you havent got 12 illegal immegrants in your house

red i would be the same as you and try to help him it might just be the nudge he needs to give him some hope to turn his life around growing up is not easy and it only takes 1 slip up to head down the wrong path it could so easily be any of our own kids that make this mistake and those that think their kids would never end up like this are not living in the real world. thankfully my boys are now 30 and 26 and grown up so i dont have that worry but most kids dabble in a little bit of everything experimenting that parents never know about and if their lucky nothing happens but some are not so lucky and end up like him, so if you can spare some old clothes go ahead wouldnt you like to think if your kids ever got that low and you were not about someone would help them instead of just condemming them
