gen 2 - Thanks for your suggestion of Pig for No. 23. I had no idea that term was used for a PC. (I must have lived a very sheltered life!!) Regarding the 'copper' bit in the clue - I have heard about Pig Iron but not Pig Copper. I will keep trying and hope inspiration comes soon. Thanks for your help.

No, Freda, What I am saying is that Pig, PC, and Copper are all slang/alternative names for policemen.
