If i connect a digital optical cable to my lcd tv and then connect it to my sky hd box, when i watch programmes broadcast in dolby digital. Will i get dolby digital sound through my lcd?

no it comes out of the speakers!! ;0)

I'd guess - only if your telly could handle dolby ...
or if you use the speakers as speakers (and bypass the TV chain)
the home cinema crowd and the ppl who connect via their sound systems will ... but I think that most tellys
.... unless it's a super dooper (and super expensive) model it will just have provision for stereo
your TV has an optical input!!!!
