Juat taken delivery of a compost bin & also re-turfed the lawn. Is it possible to put the left over turf in the compost bin?

I would not do this. . With turf it is best to stack it green side down in the corner of the garden somewhere and leave it to rot down. When you come back to it you will have a nice pile of soil. It is not best practice to add soil to your compost bin.

If it`s to use yourself, why not upend it in a pile and let it rot down for future use as a mulch or seed compost next year, but if you mean a council compost bin to be taken away,then in Bournemouth, we`re not allowed to put soil based roots in our bins, just grass, twigs, and hedge cuttings. never ever put turf in a compost bin my brother tried that method last year and it all went tits up.took out the neighbours fence and killed his prize guineau pig
