Sunday Express ansers to clues

why are paople so negative when replying to others who just put clue numbers in especially for the 'Sunday Express if you haven't got the paper go out and get one but don't be so pompous to assume that you are the only person who may be able to answer the clue.

you don't need the paper to answer if the clues are given in the post. Are readers of the Sunday Express the only ones who can give answers to that crossword?

No. But there are some who are really rather aggressive in their replys to people who are only asing for help.

"Asking for help" is the relevant phrase here. How can anyone give help if they don't have all the information? I do see where you are coming from though.

A lot of people come onto the site as they like to answer questions, but they don't always buy the paper in question. It means they can't share in the general dispensation of knowledge which is surely why we all come on here i.e. to learn more. A little thoughtfulness towards others goes a long way.

I agree with you both the more info the better the chance of a reply but also there is no need for rudeness at all

thanks for that, I was just trying to make the point that some people who were answering were being a little arrogant in their responses. I just felt quite strongly about it at the time.

If someone is going to post a question which just says "What is 1 across", then they deserve no help. Help us to help you.

I don't intend to buy the paper just to help the question setter. If he can't be bothered to post the clue, then I can't be bothered to answer.

Lol squarebear - I agree entirely, though if we posted the "Please give all info" message to all the Q'ers, we'd never get any answers out!

I only see the Mail & Express puzzles and after a while it just seems easier to give in...

eviecat, to give the full clue and any letters already known not only increases the chances of a reply, it is also a courtesy to the many AB'ers who enjoy trying to solve the clues of other crosswords.

But why should I search for the clue when it would take the poster a few more seconds to type it out for us?
