tranfer of deeds

Help..My husband moved out of the family home over a year ago. He agreed to tranfer the house into my sole name. his solicitor wrote to me advising me to get legal help in order to tranfer the house out of my husbands name into my sole name. the solicitor I contacted quoted me a fee of over �700 which is way out of my reach. can I fill in the forms myself or is there a less expensive way to transfer name on deed.
