I agree that if said in a demeaning context, then of COURSE the expressions can get on some peoples' nerves, but as I say, when I go out and hear guys using the word "darling" t o every female who might walk by - to me, that's FAR worse than being called hun, or love, etc.,because it has an insincere ring to it .

jayne, trust me, when its said about me and max by legend, it is patronizing, different words are said in different contexts and mean different things at any given time. I known him well enough to know that the term "girlies" is meant to be patronizing!

Well.....it's nothing to start a thirld world war about is it? I've been called far worse than a "girlie" by some people on here - and MEANT in a nasty way as well, but I'm just amused by peoples' mediocracy and attempts at sarcasm.

I think the point here, is that whoever gets offended by another's remarks, then the offender should apologise. Sometimes we all say things which perhaps we shouldn't, or which we didn't mean to sound as they do, but life's too short to make something out of so little. I know that if I inadvertently said something to upset anyone on here, I'd say I was sorry - and have done - but then that'd be the end of the matter.

Ice....Nothing was said inadvertently, all was meant to be received exactly as it was said. In this case, it's not so much remarks (would get ya banned too quickly!), than a whole persona / tone.
Just like in real life, you can be arrested for DOING something stupid, whereas you'll be left alone if you just ARE stupid.
Just an example btw.

Well ive been around long enough to know theres no pointarguing with 2 women.
And im know what iv esaid nic eto both julie and max.And it far outweighs the bad.

Not at all. Fair points made by Julie and Max. If they're offended by something that WHOEVER'S said, then who am I to say they shouldn't be?
Some folk just look out for what they consider as slurs against them, pick up on it, and go on and on, reiterating the same old stuff.
I just speak as I see things, siding with whoever I agree with on certain points. It could be you, julie, or you max, or legend - or anyone. I don't need "friends" behind me when I express an opinion, and try to be fair minded. If you've felt patronized, then it's not nice for you. Not nice for legend either, when HE'S had things slung at him, and some of those things've been outrageous and extremely unpleasant. Right now, I think we've all slightly averted from misundrstood's original post! Sorry, mis!!!

pasta, yes me and legend were friends at one time, youre not mistaken, i however didnt tow the line of what was expected of me so got deleted from his friends list on here and myspace and off msn. Not a problem to be honest. Suited me at the time.
Icey, i have never slung any crap at legend on here, only had an opinion different to his. I wont say anymore because to be honest, i think what happened between me and him is personal and not for the boards and he has always respected that too as regards posting on the ab.. Mostly i avoid any posts he makes but ones like the one i suggs today i did have a genuine opinion about,nothing personal towards him, wouldnt have mattered who had posted , i would feel and say the same .I could post it but despite what he thinks of me, i wouldnt do that. I get pis$ed off when i disagree about a subject and it is made out to be something personal as if im not entitled to form any other opinion if it differs from his.
