Depends which part of the ear. I have 'glue ear' which is a blockage of the Eustachian Tubes. It's on the throat side of the eardrum and nothing you can put in your ear will cure it. You can test for it by pinching your nostrils and blowing your nose. If your ears 'pop' but do not clear, then that's what you have. Up until puberty this condition can be cured by the insertion of 'grommits' but,for some reason, not after that. You can try nasal drops or menthol inhalation but these only offer a minimal chance of clearance.
There are several cures for blockage on the ear side of the inner ear, like syringing, or proprietory drops like 'Otex'.
