Hey, just a question cos I'm curious. Who fancies short girls and who fancies tall girls and in general what do men prefer? Also, what would you consider quite tall and what would you consider quite small? And lastly, do you consider petiteness as being slim / skinny / short / short and skinny? Sorry - it's a pretty boring question but I'm trying to figure out if anyone will ever fancy me cos I'm a 17yr old girl and I'm getting impatient!!! I'm 5ft6 and a size 8 -10 - what would you say to that? x x x

5'6'' and size 8-10 sounds pretty fine to me. You are mediumly tall and slim. Lucky you! Mind you, I think most men will tell you it's not height and build that makes you desirable. It's a whole lot more than that.

it is always going to seem strange to the dinosaurs that inhabit this site that anyone that sounds so confident and lovely should be worried about the mating game, my view is that the right person will happen with no planning and at any time. it sounds like a cliche but enjoy being 17 first don't think that you are lagging behind, friends of either sex are as important as a partner and probably less trouble, concentrate on your lifestyle and enjoy it while you are young and free. be ambitious with your life, see what the world has to show you. i am glad that i married late so that i had time to travel and make my own mistakes, i remember my adventures more than i remember relationships.

As for your height/size then you can count yourself lucky as you're medium height and slim, many girls would be jealous of you I bet.

Well, I'm only 5'5'', but have always looked at the face rather than the body. If a woman is 5'10'' and still likes me, I'll go for it (well, I did once) and have had many girlfriends an inch or two taller than me. I basically take no notice of the height, it's usually the women who tend to take it into account instead.

I think attraction is based on a whole lot more than your height and build. Although as you are a slim build and of average height for a woman you do have an advantage. Facial features, hair, dress sense and the way you present yourself also have a large bearing on initial attraction. As does a look of health and wellbeing.

I'm afraid I can't remember who carried out the following experiment in a college class that shows the way you feel about yourself may have something to do with the way others see you.

A rather plain girl was selected and, without her knowledge of their plan, was shown some attention by some of the boys in her class. Over a short period of time she began to alter the way she looked by wearing make-up, doing her hair and improving her dress sense. Also the fact that people seemed to be attracted to her increased her self confidence and actually altered her personality. The boys who carried out this experiment were surprised to find that after a short time many boys in her school really did start to show an interest in the girl who by now was really considered to be attractive. Although ethically unsound this experiment shows, among other things, you need to try to feel good about yourself to maximise your potential to attract the opposite sex.

 Try to focus on your positives and develop them. Pamper yourself once in a while, perhaps do something selfish just to make you feel good about yourself. But don't force the issue it'll all come good with time.

Hey as already said you sound like you are in great shape i would love to be your height. Regarding if anyone fancies you i dont think its down to height, i had a long term relationship with someone 6ft 6 (we did look a sight as im only 5ft 3ish) and now im married to someone about 5ft 6ish so i dont think it really comes into it!!

hay i would say that sounds the perfect. and every one has there own ideas of what they like. so dont think guys dont like you cause of your height. and in my opinion petite is just on height cause you can be petite and larger. i am 5ft 2 n dated guys near my height and up to 6ft n yes it did look odd. dont worry about it your still young. guys like confident girls so just love you (but not to much cause that aint good either) good luck. you will find someone when you stop looking and of coarse when your already taken they just seem to appear. xx

Just be yourself. Concentrate on doing what suits you and maybe join a club or do an evening class in a subject you enjoy. I'm sure you'll be fighting them off before long.
