Can anybody recommend any particular brand/model of fold-up bike? The only make I know is Brompton, which is too expensive for my pocket. I can pay �250-�300 maximum.

Have you tried Dahon, do some credible machines in your price range with 26" wheels, or Brompton look alikes for a bit more.
