toasted sandwich fillings

all you experts out there, what is the ultimate toasted sandswich fillinf????? Had a good cheese and ham today but is there anything better and what is the best bread?

I'm boring, normally cheese and ham, but may have to try egg and cheese, that sounds quite nice :)

There's no excuse tor small toastie makers.

You can get the coffee shop style panini makers now. In mine, you can get 3 toasties side by side, or 4 if you turn then sideways and fill up the edges.

I burnt myself on it last week :-((

Oh, and there are lots of fillings, but you can beat the classic ham and cheese.

You've got to be quick with putting the top slice on, Chuck, the egg wants to escape over the edges.

If you have a toasty machine that has the pattern on it, then I push the bread into it to make an area for the egg to sit into, but the flat machines you've got to be quick with.

Hey Bigmamma, nice to meet you too., I suspect you are in a minority, Toasted sarnies are a British comfort food, but there is no law says you have to like them.Beans on toast is just as good!!!
