That's so sad, mummaducky! We've just had a duck pond dug as my son's friend has a duck who's sitting on eggs at the moment and we've always wanted some. What worries me as well is the foxes. I've seen them up here in broad daylight (we're in West Wales) and last winter, one took all my neighbour's (well, nearest neighbour, about half a mile up the mountain!) ducks one morning at about 9 o'clock! They're always round here, trying to get my chickens, but I've got them in the Welsh equivalent of Fort Knox now. I do hope your little one survives - it should be OK for a day after hatching, as they still have a remnant of the egg yolk to sustain them. Pop it in a little box with plenty bedding to keep it warm and bring it into the house (I've saved a few young chicks by putting them in a box in front of the stove in the kitchen). Good luck (keep us posted, won't you?) K xx
