Diver not working for Memory stick or any extension

Hi IT people, Im desparate for some IT help. I uninstalled some items on my computer to make more space. After this I found my digital camera wouldnt load when plugged in the usb point. I re-installed via the Finepix disk but no luck. Later I tried a memory stick and another bit of software but keeps on coming back with a message - problems with installing?? It appears that whatever I plug into the back of my computer usb points they do not work - saying 'problems with installation'. I used to plug item into usb point, log on my computer and an extra drive would appear 'f drive'. I then simply clicked on this & I could use the camera/memory stick etc. Anyone know the answer to my problem. (my wife posts lots of pics for selling items on e-bay so we are desparate fore some Technical help) Regards Konspiracy

which OS? - what service pack

if you left media in the slot when uninstalling windows (mainly vista) sometimes sees the increased activity - which causes a slowdown - as a write error ... and disables the USB hub.

Open control panel | system | hardware ... select all the USB entries (bottom of list) and delete them .... reboot ... and hopefully .....
