my grandfather recently passed away and i would like to wear his medals at his funeral because i am so proud of what he achieved and of the man that he was. but i'm very aware of the sniffy protocol surrounding wearing medals that aren't your own, so would it be improper of me to do such a thing?

I think you can if you wear them on the opposite side - they do on remeberence sunday anyway
Your Grandad would have worn them (proudly) on his left breast.

You are entitled to wear them on your right breast
you go Kev - wear them (on the right) with pride - grandfather would be chuffed I am sure
a better idea would be for you to put them on the coffin until it is buried or cremated.
yes thats what i did with my fathers, had them cleaned and mounted properly and laid them on the coffin..Afterwards i found a company on the net and had 2 displays made (with replica medals,) with his cap badge and a photo, kept one and gave one to my sister..shame i didnt do it when he was alive, he would of been so proud..
Hi

We have had a medal presentation set made up buy Worcester Medals, and what an excellent job they did of it.

It comprised of a Scroll, 3 medals and a plaque, all beautifully presented (expensive but worth the money),

Wear them with pride (on the right) and prserve the memory for generations to come.
