Dog Training

Hi all

Ive got a 10 week old pup and obviously want him to grow into a happy well behaved dog.
I'm thinking of taking him to training classes, have any of you tried these and di you find them helpful? Thanks

Training classes are very helpfull they will give you lots of advice and also help you dog socialise with other dogs. Its also nice to meet other like minded people Good luck x

Definitely recommend training classes. Your pup will learn to mix with other dogs and you will have great fun teaching him things. You'll also make lots of new friends and find a whole new hobby if you want to.

Yes training classes are a 'must' if you want a well behaved dog but some trainers are much better than others so choose carefully. Ask other dog owners and also your vet. It is best to start with puppy socialising classes and your vet may run these. Make sure he has had all his jabs before you go.

They should make it law, then we wouldn`t have so many dogs causing death and injury to children and other dogs.

Most cases of dog attacks are the fault of the owners, who probably would never take a dog to training classes anyway.

our vets run puupy socialisation for pups before they have cmpleted their vacs....held in scrupulously clean conditions and well supervised...both I and the pups enjoyed them..well worth checking to see if your vet does them.

Do your research about training classes and make sure they are right for your dog, ours wasn't...it was a good class but didn't suit our dogs!

Where training classes really come into their own, is when the little 'darling' doesn't behave as expected! Just like when you have children, it can be really reassuring to be told by someone who really knows that, 'it's just a phase, s/he'll grow out of it.'
And, 'you're not doing anything wrong, it just takes time.'
Don't forget it's important that you like the class, teachers, methods, etc., as well as the pup!

Ive arranged to attend a 6 week course with Sonic once he's 16 weeks old and am going to a couple of puppy classes before that. Hes already prety well behaved and has learnt sit and stay but I want him to learn to play nicely with other dogs as he gets a bit over excited at the moment!
