a Q on Family about old people and although I am no chicken myself it reminded me of yesterday when we were stuck behind a Nissan Micra doing 15 mph along county lanes. Besides us there must have been 10 other cars behind. The driver of the Nissan Micra was barely big enough to see over the steering wheel and he was completely oblivious to the stream of cars behind him. When we eventually passed he must have been at least 110 years old and we called him a silly old fool (not that he heard us) What annoys you about old codgers and I remind you all I am one of them so you can remind me of my failings if you so wish.

If I remember rightly, yesterday was quite a windy day. Nissan Micras are not particularly noted for their speed, neither are they particularly noted for their aerodynamic capabilities under challenging conditions.
You therefore must remember when I am belting down country lanes and I fill your rear view mirror with my radiator grill that I am in charge of the road as I am younger, faster and richer than you, so youd better get out of MY way, or face some verbal abuse with accompanying hand signals.
Fortunately I am a very patient and considerate driver, and if someone is taking their time, then there may be many reasons such as vision, car power, nervousness, lost, or generally just taking their time. If I can overtake safely I will, if not then I just sit back and enjoy the ride with some thumping tunes.
I dont like the way they always assume they are first in the bus queue, even if you are there half an hour before them, regardless of whether you would let them on first or not.

That sounds like my Dad!!!
I am trying to get him to stop driving. He is 82 years old and drives at 5mph.
I am sure he cannot see properly, he only wears reading glasses and maintains he has good sight!!
When I am in the car with him, I am so impatient, yet he won't go faster!!
What can I do!! He is active and likes to get out and about.

The town I live in is quite highly populated by the wrinklies. & driving or trying to get a seat in a cafe is a mare. They take foooooooorever. However there are a few lovelys that knok on my window & wave at me & sometimes pop in for a cuppa & a chat ...bless um. (hoping to be added to a few wills)
