Police Caution Can I still qualify as an accountant
5 Answers
Hi
When I was young (15) I recieved a police caution for shop lifting. I'm now 24 & want to go on to qualify as an accountant, is it still possible for me to do so? And what kind of checks are carried out? Will any checks reveal the caution?

As a trainee solicitor I have heard many stories about the Law Society refusing applications for what would appear to be fairly innocent mistakes. It is quite clear however that offences involving dishonesty are seriously frowned upon.
I would seriously address this issue before you spend any time and money on accountancy courses. I'm sure you'll be fine though, it was a long time ago. Best of luck becoming an accountant.
