I remember when Michael Winner put this in a column he was writing for some paper or other about fifteen years ago. It drove us all mad for a week until he published the answer. At which point he was lucky he didn't get a very stern letter from our employer via the lawyer asking for recompense for all the time we'd been wasting reading dictionaries instead of working (this was pre-every one having internet info at their fingertips at work).
