PC Speakers Just Wont Work

Out of the blue, my one year old, Aiwa PC speakers with bass unit, (TS-CD15) just wouldn't work.

My keyboard and mouse froze and a tone then sounded from my computer base unit, very like a telephone engaged signal.

I detached the speakers and installed a cordless keyboard and mouse. The noise went away.

Any ideas what happened to my speakers, keyboard and mouse and what was that noise?

Everything is working OK now, except I have really crappy PC speakers as I can't justify spending a lot of money on some nice ones.

Check the cabling and make sure the connections are secure. If it happened out of the blue, i would say you can rule out interferance. Also, check the soundcard and drivers.
