On November 6, 1893 died in St. Petersburg. There are several opinions on the cause of his death. The official version states that he died of cholera after drinking a glass of unboiled water. Another theory is that he was forced to take arsenic to preserve his school's good name when it was apparent that his homosexuality was about to become a scandal.

there is an accountof his death, and I dont mean the film where he is put into a scalding bath and not surprisingly gives up the ghost.

He is put in a warm bath which he says is comfortable and quietly dies. This was a recognised (but unsuccessful ) treatment for cholera. Although it does not mean that he had cholera, it does sort of mean that his doctors thought he did.
