drinking water from? We've just been informed that they are putting a machine on that will charge us 20p per plastic cup of water. Would you pay this if your work did this? We're on the phones all day and get quite parched, this can't be right can it?

Now, you might think they are talking about lifting the water bottle to jam it in the cooler.....oooohhhhh noooooo....my employers, in their wisdom, decided that germs might accumulate in the nozzle and we'll all have germs in our water when we our it.

Hi Lisa,
We all carry small insulated lunch bags to my job at school. They will not provide a cooler, fridge or microwave, so we are forced to carry a cooler bag. (Which must be hidden away according to the principal b/c "You like you are going to the beach." ) It is common practice here in US for employers to provide water and small "Kitchen area" where coffee is available.
Tsk tsk to your employer.

The law requires that an Employer provides drinking water and must ensure that:
it is free from contamination and is preferably from the public water supply - bottled water dispensers are acceptable as a secondary supply;
it is easily accessible by all employees;
there are adequate supplies taking into consideration the temperature of the working environment and types of work activity;
cups or a drinking fountain are provided.
Drinking water does not have to be marked unless there is a significant risk of people drinking non-drinking water.
