bless! run her a warm bath and try to relax.
hospitals can be like that but I'm sure if you turn up they won't turn you away. if she's really in a lot of pain then just get there. once her waters break it could all happen quite quickly.

good luck, I hope it's streamlined ;o)

she went up this morning and they checked the baby in the corridor cause they had no beds, its really bad i think. i know alot of people whos waters never broke and the hospital had to brake them, she is so tired and no energy left.
Tell her to call the hospital again and demand a midwife come out to see her. They should at least come out to check her BP and baby and see if shes dialating and if so, how far. If she is 4cm, established labour, she should insist on the midwife staying with her and asking for gas and air to help with the pain. With my first pregnancy, my wayers didnt break until after I had had an epidural and with my second, they didnt break! After baby was born the midwife said, so wheres your waters then? lol

How long are her contractions lasting and how far apart are they. Also, how far from the hospital is she?

she is about 20 mins from the hospital. her conyractions are lasting about a minute to a minute and a half, they keep saying someone will ring her but so far no one has rang and she has to keep ringing them. her partner has now run out to buy one of those heart monitor things just to reassure them.

He really shouldnt as they can be difficult to use. Some can have trouble finding babys heartbeat even though everything is fine and well. It has to be in the right place to pick it up and can be hard to do. He hasnt left her alone has he?

Tell her to keep ringing the hospital every 10 minutes until they send someone out or until they allow her to go in. Is there another hospital nearby she could go to?
if they have internet access this may help get an accurate timing on contractions http://www.contractionmaster.com/

a bath is good pain relief in early stages (got me to 8cms).

Is there another hospital nearby? she could call them and see if they can take her. Use the excuse that she is at a friends nearby if necessary.

Or call her on-call midwife and see if she can get a home visit

Poor thing must be exhausted.
How is your SIL doing, hopefully had baby by now?
