Security Guards in the workplace

Not sure if this is the correct section to ask - BUT - by law, can normal security guards instruct you to take your shoes off to clear a loop. (same as the metal detector at airports.)

Just some background � it is a high security company and staff members are expected to clear a loop entering the company premises as well as leaving it.

Anyone with knowledge in this particular area? Thanks!

If you are expected to clear the loop and taking your shoes off is the way to do it then yes.

Just thought there was a different set of rules for "normal" security guards.
I know that airport security has a MUCH wider set of rules with regards to what they're able to do.

i also work in a very large security firm (not saying for security reasons) but its a everyday company

as soon as you walk on site at the front gates there is a very large sign that you cant miss stating that while on the site you are liable for a complete search

its also in everyones contract very clear that this can be done

and they do have on the spot searches , which nobody has ever stupid enough to steal anything

so if they have signs up and its in your contract then yes they can search you but i think a complete strip search is a bit OTT , only to be used if they have complete proof that you has something to hide, which i would think you deserve it if you have nicked something
