Excluding our own Tourist Industry, With the new generation of commercial aircraft (example being the Boeing 7E7) which has the ability to flie more further, how will this affect British Airports like Heathrow being in a strategic geographical position with the current generation of Aircraft for stopovers etc?

As a regular, non-UK based traveller, Heathrow has 2 redeeming features - I need to go to London and BA (a top airline) use it as a hub.  The ultra long range planes may mean I can save a few hours to the USA, but I'd still probably fly via the UK (or Tokyo, depending which way round I went).

Have you spend 16 hours on a plane?  Not something I can recommend!

To stay ahead, London needs to be a financial centre and Heathrow needs to look at Singapore Changi or Hong Kong Chek Lap Kok to learn how airports can actually be nice places to be
