My 7 yr old daughter has developed an irritating tickly cough. She hasnt complained of having a sore throat, although she does say it keeps getting dry. She also has a constant runny nose and her eyes are getting a little red on occasions (but this also happens when shes tired). My immediate thought is shes suffering with hayfever but Im not sure as to whether or not the cough is a symptom.

Any ideas? Thanks in advance :)

Your diagnosis is almost certainly correct and yes tickly cough can be associated with hay fever. Either go to the chemist or your GP for treatment.

Thanks sqad. I think I will ask the pharmacist the best treatment for her. Im reluctant to go to the docotor on this subject as she had a similar thing happen when she was 3 and they were too quick to diagnose an asthmatic cough. They gave her ventalin medicine but when that didnt help, they gave her two asthma pumps!

It wasnt until I took her back yet again, this time to a different doctor, he said it was just allergies and gave her anti histimine (sp?) medicine which worked. That time though it was just a cough and no other symptoms of a cold or hayfever.
