Ivy is coming over my garden wall and going over the
roof of my extension. I have been told to cut it back
otherwise it will lift the roof tiles and damp will get in
Is this true?

I would always keep ivy trimmed back, don't let it start to get a hold on your roof tiles, it can creep under them and lift them, I have seen ivy growing right through old walls. It's a bit of a pain to trim it regularly, but better than having to pull it off the tiles and leave all the fibrous strands behind.

Yes it will get into the roof, and eventually push the tiles around. The very fact that vegetation is growing in there encourages damp.

yes get rid of it before it becomes a struggle and does real damage!

PS we had a problem with it in our garage, it also got full of blackfly.....you don't want that in your extension
