I have just written a question and found that a really similar question has been asked and answered. I don't find that too odd, but I find it weird that the wording of the question is really similar to mine. Or at least I think so.

Can having a scare really make your hair go white/drop out? Is this rubbish?

It was so similar I had to check it wasn't me who had written the first question (really). Maybe they aren't so similar, but I got a shock (not enough to turn my hair white, at least not yet).

Anyone had any experiences of the same type?

Is there an answerbank style, or is it a 'me' style which I share with Deore?

You come over as being educated and literate with a good grasp of grammar - three qualities that are sadly in short supply.  Is it strange that another educated etc. person should use very similar words to ask the same question?  You composed your question to be brief, succinct and clear in meaning.  So did Deore.

Also, Flashpig, if you stay with the AB for a while, you will notice that people sometimes ask a question that has already been asked, and the wording can be very similar too.

C Jung wrote on this - in fact he wrote a book on it - Synchronicity. Your head will go splat! half way through but it is a short book and available in English. He said it was something called group consciousness. Enjoy! My own feeling is not that it is group consciousness but that if you give a group of people similar educational experinces then they will ask the same type of questions.

Can't really see very many other ways of asking that question, can you? There are only certain words that describe the phenomenon, and besides that I only counted 5 words that were the same from a possible 23, and two of those (is and your) could be from any question. See below highlighted in red.

Aside from the subject matter, the wording is almost as disimilar as it could possibly be. It is not exactly an unusual question, most people know of the idea.

And in answer, yes it can happen over night, after a fright or physical trauma, but you wouldn't see a streak like in films, as that hair is dead. Only new hair would be white and you wouldn't see that until it has grown a bit
