in my opinion, both have their place.

I fed my daughter home made food only for the first 8 months, now she has both, mainly due to convienience as i've been on hospital with a knee operation and her dads been taking care of her.
But as ethandron said they wouldnt sell them if they werent suitable. You also can buy Organic food and food thats has no added additives - so i personally think they can be just as good as home made.

hi i think if you buy a good quality jar of food it doesnt make as much difference. i decidied with my first baby to make my own and to be honest with buying all good quality fresh veg etc it cost the same to buy jars i would say do both to give tastes of things you really wouldnt make yourself. with my second baby i made all the usual but liquidised like meat, pot and veg to get my son used to it but now that he is bigger its taken the opposite affect as he now hates meat and will only eat chicken if he cant see it in home-made curry etc. my daughter loves traditional meat veg etc and my son loves all things spicy. do whatever suits you and most importantly your baby. if they really enjoy it let them have it.
I give my baby home food 70% of the time but the organic baby foods dont contain no additives or preservatives so there as good as homefood and I think they taste better then my cooking lol (maybe Im just a bad cook lol) My daughter loves the Hipp ones especially.
Both have there pros and cons and as long as you check the labels for hidden nasties you should be fine and try to stick with organic ones :-)
