Just bought and had installed a couple of weeks ago, a Panasonic DMREZ47V DVD VCR Recorder. Learnt how to record, playback, delete etc. But machine won't switch off. It used to say 'Please Wait' when switched off, or 'Hello' when switched on. It still records etc. but the screen has the number of the channel on it, and switches from DVD to VHS, i just can't switch it off. Installer didn't get back to me, Also, which DVDs should I use so that I can record, delete and re-record over? I bought Sony DVD+R but can't re-record on them. Thanks all.

Can't help with the switch problem, but the re-writable dvds are marked RW

Thanks Ethel. I rang John Lewis ... switched off the DVD at the mains and switched on again ... magic.
can't help with it not switching off, if it really won't then I would guess it has a fault, I would be fairly sure it should be as simple as hitting the power button!

for DVDs to rerecord you need DVD-RW or DVD+RW or DVDRW (check which one your recorder is compatible with)

the RW on the end stands for rewritable.
^HUH why didn't my 'puter show either of the previous answers when I looked at this question... strange :)
