A friend of mine who I have known for donkeys years has just lost her daughter to cancer. She was only 19 years old and had a couple of kids. Over the years we have lost touch due to her moving a couple of times to different towns and both of us changing our phone numbers. I have a card which I am going to give to a family member to pass on but I honestly dont know what to write. The usual 'sorry to hear the sad news and we are thinking of you etc' just doesnt seem enough, yet on the other hand I know she would hate too much sentimental stuff. It isnt helping that i am getting pretty upset when Im trying to think what to write. Can anyone please help?

just put thinking of you and here if you need me, and your number.
It's really difficult isn't it? I've had the same dilemma in the past. Completely agree with 4get, just a few lines as 4get suggested is enough to express volumes. That's what I ended up doing.

thanks yogasun, it really is difficult. I think I will write what I thought of in the first place and be here if she needs me.
I;m sure no matter what you put she will be pleased to hear from you. Its very sad and s for someone so young to go is even sadder
the fact that you have bothered at all to send a card will be of some comfort to her. having been through bereavement of very close family members 3 times now, i know it sometimes is the people you least expect to hear from that can give the most comfort , and in many ways it really doesn't matter what you write.
I am so sorry to hear that pixi (((hugs))), some people don't read the card at the time but go back to them a few days later. Just give your number and say that you are there for her if she wants to get in touch to talk.
