A UK citizen cannot register for the US Green Card Lottery. Is there anyway in which I can get around this? My grandfather was born in Ireland. Would it therefore be possible to apply for an Irish passport and then holding this passport register for the US Green Card Lottery since Ireland is a country that is eligible to apply? Are there any other nations in the world who have similar visa lotterys (e.g. Canada, Australia, NZ), and if so are UK citizens similarly restricted from registering?

Why the US green lottery? Isn't the national lottery and the euro lottery enough?

what's in the USA that want to make you want residency there?
Sorry yenalad if you took that as a bad joke, it wasn't meant to be. I'm just curious to know why someone would go to all that trouble to get irish citizenship when there are two lotteries available in the UK. next time I'll keep my big mouth shut! Sorry again.
