Do any of you 'Lawyers' out there know if it is legal to set up a blog or 'internet billboard' warning others of a firm's failings and disgraceful service and if so how I go about doimg it?

Provided what you say is factually correct then it is perfectly legal.

However, if your site allows others to add their two pennies worth, you have no idea if their claims are true - would you be liable for libel if Joe Bloggs said something completely untrue and proved damaging to the company?
The answer is - yes. The website owner (and the ISP) is just as likely to be sued as Joe Bloggs.

You could have a 'closed' blogg where no other person is allowed to post and you could air your grievances there. As long as what you say is true (or you believe it to be true) or is 'fair comment' - I hate Sainsco and they are the worst supermarket, for example - then you are acting within the law.

Thanks, Ethel. No, I just want to set up a blog to tell the public to beware of the services of a certain firm that not only do I believe are factually correct but is also a warning to other companies of their failings
