Rent arrears
The lease on my property expired in May 08 and just before this the company who owned the property went into liquidation and the bank reposessed, i have not paid rent since March and now the company who are in receivership are asking for the back rent. Should i pay this as i have been told that if the rent insn't taken in the month it is due i don't have to??? is this true? Also if i were not to pay and give a months notice would i not get the deposit?

Whatever you've been told previously about your not having to pay the rent is utterly wrong. Also, if you decide to give a month's notice to quit the property, you are nevertheless liable for rent up to and including the day on which the notice ends.
