My cat is not interested, but my previous cat used to roll and rub her face on a little catnip pillow I bought. I saw a programme once where they put around 15 cats in a garden planted all over with catnip. Some ignored it, some rolled around, but one made me scream with laughter as it almost foamed at the mouth. Huge bubbles coming out of it's nose and mouth in 'ecstasy'. It was weird!
my cat got very jumpy and his eyes were BIG! then he lay on the floor on his back, looking very chilled while Nirvana played in the background. it was very funny :o)
Both of mine love it, but Cuddles (my older female) gets really protective and cuddles her catnip mice, sitting on them for hours. ASBO just looks stoned.
both of mine eat it, roll in it, get absolutely sh!tfaced and then sit in their pile so the other can't have it (females). we also have next door's boypuss popping in when the nip is out and he just hugs the floor! its very funny as he's really long haired and gets in a hell of a state before going back home stoned out of his face. it just sends them bananas!
I have three cats...two are in seventh heaven with it and my oldest just does not bother.I spray it on their scratching post and boy they are like young kitten with it ,they will fall asleep on the top shelf of the post and we have peace for half an hour lol.g.
I read somewhere that response to catnip is a sexual response. I'm interested as all my cats are rescue kittens from Cats Protection, and were neutered at a very young age, ie before sexual maturity, and none have shown the slightest interest in catnip despite me growing it in the garden for them, So do they only show interest if allowed to become sexually mature or am I barking up the wrong tree so to speak
