They look terrible when they are wearing off. I only use the tanning lotions now and apart from the smell, the results are pretty good. I am currently using the Dove one and it produces a nice colour (I am fair and use the fair to normal skin one). Make sure you rub it in well and don't put loads on your knees or round the sides of your feet.

You know something, I have been using this stuff for yrs St Tropez, Piz Buin (my sister is a beautician and I get all the samples and new products from her), on a quest to find a really good one. Cheap and cheerful, Asda's own for a great big bottle is only 4.85ish and by jove it's a really nice colour, and DOESN'T come off - can be frustating, but as the colour is so nice I just top up! Happy days!!! It lasts FOREVER, and for the price, bloody good value for money too!!!
I think different ones work for different people - otherwise there wouldn't be so many on the market, but I have a few favourites.
For my legs I use fake bake, for my upper body I use St Tropez everyday and for my face I use the Dior one (natural glow not shimmering glow) and this has the best results for me!

Fake tan usually takes 2-4 hours before developing. Always wait the recommended time before applying a second coat if you wish to go darker. Two thin coats will give a much natural effect than one thick one!
Once you have applied it you should wash your hands immediately to stop staining, and take care to wash your nails, cuticles and in between your fingers as cream tends to gather here.
